Summer Santa Award Winners

Summer Santa board member Sue Howery is the 2007 Volunteer of the Year. She shares the honor with Carroll Senior High varsity girls basketball coach Niki Gilley.

2007 – Congratulations to Summer Santa 2006 Volunteer of the Year Sue Howery of Southlake, a Summer Santa board member who showed Santa-like leadership skills as she worked with a core group of Summer Santa volunteers to send nearly 300 area children to summer camps last year. Well done, Sue!

2007 – In a new award, congratulations to Summer Santa 2006 Community Volunteer of the Year Niki Gilley of the Carroll School District. This award will recognize one member from the community who diligently leads us in the area of volunteering and giving to children year-round, not just at the end-of-the-year holidays.

Niki Gilley is a teen leadership teacher at Carroll Senior High School. A 1989 graduate of Carroll High, she has worked as a teacher and coach in the Carroll district for more than a dozen years. Last year, her team leadership class in Carroll donated the most toys of any school in the area. The toys are given by Summer Santa to a dozen area charities for summertime distribution. Way to go, Niki Gilley, and the great kids at Carroll High School!!
