What is the toy drive?
Summer Santa reminds everyone that giving and volunteering for children is important year around, not just at the end-of-the-year holidays.
That’s why Summer Santa holds a toy drive in area schools each year. Top schools win trophies; but more important, students learn about helping others not as fortunate as them.
Students are asked to bring in a new, unwrapped toy (no toy guns, please) and drop them in a toy box in their school lobby during Toy Drive Week.
Toys are distributed to nearly a dozen area charities for children to engage in summertime play.
Where do the toys go?
Toys are distributed to nearly a dozen area charities for children to engage in summertime play.
The charities include:
- Alliance for Children/Northeast
- Battered Women’s Foundation
- Christ’s Haven Home for Children
- Community Enrichment Center
- Community Storehouse
- GRACE
- Open Arms Program
- SafeHaven of Tarrant County
- I Can Still Shine
